We take tremendous pride in our team
programs at Bright Stars. Our athletes work hard, but enjoy the
challenge. They develop physically and mentally through our training
programs which will benefit them for their entire lives.
Team programs require a year-round commitment. In order to meet the needs of
our competitive gymnasts, we have two competitive teams.
Training Team: Ages 5-7
(Invitation Only)
90-minute class
The training team teaches advanced tumbling
and equipment skills, with emphasis on progressive skills leading to competitive
level gymnastics. The gymnast is introduced to dance in the gymnastics
setting. At this level, self-discipline and internal motivation become emerging
benefits for the athlete. Gymnasts are invited to participate on our training
team based on their natural physical abilities as well as their eagerness to
learn and perfect skills.
Mini Team: Ages 4-6
(Invitation Only)
Mini Team: The mini-team is designed for young gymnasts
that catch on quickly and learn new skills at a rapid pace. The mini-team
allows the gymnasts to learn skill combinations and eventually move forward to
one of our pre-competitive teams.
Pre-Team: Ages 5-8
(Invitation Only)
Pre-Team: Gymnasts showing the
physical and emotional ability to eventually be part of the our team are
invited to be part of this team. Pre-team members will be taught skills
preparing them for both USAG/ USAIGC routines. Upon mastering many of the
required skills, the gymnasts will then be invited to be a member of our
competitive teams.
American Athletic Union
(AAU) Invitation only ages 8 and older
American Athletic Union (AAU): This
team is designed for recreational gymnasts showing the interest and
developmental ability to be part of a competitive team. The AAU team
practices 2 hours per week. The girls learn basic USAG level 2 routiines
and build on level three and four skills on each individual event. The AAU
team competes locally in 2-3 meets per year. This is perfect team for a
recreational/competitive gymnast.
USAG:
USA
Gymnastics Beginner competitive program. Gymnasts will begin competing
compulsory Level 3 routines and will have the opportunity to compete in
local, regional, and state competitions. (We currently have Level 3,4,5, and
6 Teams competing.)
USAIGC:
U.S.
Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs. This program utilizes
optional routines without the intensity and hourly commitment of USAG Teams.
